Client Spotlight: Shemaine Doyle

Shemaine Doyle is the Founder and Managing Director of Brave, a creative marketing agency that unlocks brand opportunities and brings them to life in a Brave and Bold way.

Shemaine and I started working together in August of 2022 to launch her new agency: Brave. In her words, she came to me because, “I had a lot of fear of the unknown, of going it alone, of having to ‘sell’, financial stress, trying to cope with my old corporate brain telling me I needed to work 12 hour days, so many challenges…”  

When Shemaine and I had our first call, it was clear that Shemaine was someone who set goals and achieved them. I had no doubt that her business would be successful. But sometimes, with very driven people, there can be an impatience when they launch a new business that things aren’t happening fast enough. It’s easy to compare the pace to their old job, to see themselves as a failure if they aren’t generating the same salary within a few months. And when impatience sets in, insecurity and doubt typically follow right behind it.

This is what Shemaine struggled with early on. She had thoughts like: What if I don’t win business? Am I really capable of doing this? Am I doing the right thing? There was imposter syndrome, insecurity, doubt and worry when she would go after leads and they wouldn’t pan out. But what I love about Shemaine is her determination. Those thoughts slowed her down, but she recognized them immediately and never let them stop her.

Shemaine has now been in business for six months and has hit her stride. We’re still working through mindset hurdles, but she’s got a great list of clients and is making a comfortable salary.

I launched my business in August 2022 and now have four large clients and have proposals out to four others. I am earning a healthy salary and have balance in my life. I am doing the job I love and I am able to be around for my family. I am also very positive about the future of my business and my ability to succeed and achieve my goals.”

My approach with clients like Shemaine, is to combine mindset training with tactical ways to set up a successful business. Shemaine and I worked through her sales process, we worked on sales projections and cash flow, and created a hiring plan from the get-go so that she didn’t have to stay in the weeds for too long, working on pieces that wouldn’t move her business forward.

Shemaine has been open-minded to my entire process, both the spreadsheet side of things and the willingness to explore guided visualizations. I believe whole-heartedly in visualizing your success and your relationship to your business. It’s more than just an entity, it’s a spirit, and you are more than just a business person, you’re a human. Shemaine and I are working together to make sure those pieces stay aligned in her business so that she can see success through her hard work while continuing to work at a pace that allows for balance and time for her family.
